CaribWorldNews, GROS ISLET, St. Lucia, Fri., April 3, 2008: It will be winners take all today when the West Indies face England in the all-important 5th Digicel One-Day International at Beausejour Stadium in St Lucia.
Play is set to begin at 9:30 a.m. and West Indies captain Chris Gayle says he wants to finish the nine-week tour on a high.
`We’re totally focused ... even though a lot of things have been happening off the field, we’re here to play cricket. Hopefully we can finish off on a high. Tomorrow is a very important game for us and we believe we can get the job done,` Gayle said on Thursday as the team had a two-hour training session.
`This is a very important game for us. It is even stevens and we want to finish this tour on a winning note. We have played really well against England this series and we want to finish on top. We are looking forward to this game in a big way and everyone wants to win this game. Victory here would mean a lot to us,` Gayle added.
The West Indies won the five-match Digicel Test Series 1-0 and won the Twenty20 International. The two One-Day matches in Guyana were split as were the two in Barbados, which set-up a huge decider in St Lucia.
`We always get great support from the fans here in St Lucia and we would love to finish off and give them something to celebrate. We expect more support tomorrow. The spectators in all the countries have been brilliant so far and we will be looking to make the fans happy again.`
