The West Indies boys, fresh from their win of the five test series, are hoping for a repeat today at the Guyana National Stadium at Providence, East Bank Demerara.
Guyanese-born, West Indies batsman Ramnaresh Sarwan is in tremendous batting form and he wants it to continue for a long time.
`I am always excited to play at home. The crowd has always been supportive and it is just a matter of going out and playing positive cricket,` said Sarwan. `We have been fine and we want to maintain the momentum coming off of the Test series win and the victory in the Twenty20,` he said. `We are happy for the support we have been getting and we want the fans in Guyana to come out and support us.`
Fans will also be turning out to see hometown star, Shiv Chanderpaul, who on Tuesday night was awarded the Cacique Crown of Honor, the country’s third highest award at a function at State House in Georgetown.
The second ODI match is set for Sunday.
